Edinburgh has been named Britain’s top foodie staycation destination for 2026, beating popular destinations including Padstow and York, according to new research from Sykes Holiday Cottages.
The ranking reflects a growing interest in food-led UK breaks, with travellers increasingly choosing destinations based on their restaurants, local specialities and culinary experiences.
Edinburgh took the top spot for its mix of traditional Scottish cuisine and a diverse modern food scene, including Michelin-starred restaurants, independent cafés, artisan bakeries and restaurants showcasing local produce.
Padstow ranked second, recognised for its fresh seafood and harbourfront dining, while York took third place with its mix of Yorkshire favourites, international cuisine and street food.
Other destinations in the top 10 include St Ives, Oxford, Harrogate, Bath, Bristol, Brighton and Cambridge.
The ranking highlights how travellers can enjoy memorable food experiences without leaving the UK, making these destinations appealing options for a 2026 staycation.
For food lovers planning their next UK getaway, Edinburgh is officially the destination to put at the top of the list.
