Liverpool John Lennon Airport recorded its busiest August ever, with more than 650,000 passengers travelling through the airport as summer travel demand continued to grow.
The latest figures show passenger numbers were 6% higher than in August 2025, surpassing the previous monthly record set last year.
More than 4,000 flights operated from Liverpool during August, connecting passengers with 80 destinations across 25 countries. Seven of the airport’s 10 busiest routes were to popular summer-sun destinations.
However, the busiest route overall was Dublin, while Alicante, Palma, Malaga and Faro were the leading Mediterranean destinations.
The record month forms part of what Liverpool John Lennon Airport has described as its busiest summer to date, despite what it called a challenging year for the wider aviation industry.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR & Communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said the latest figures represented another milestone for the airport and highlighted efforts to maintain a positive passenger experience during the busy summer period.
The growth will be welcome news for travellers across the North West and North Wales, who use Liverpool as a regional departure airport.
With passenger numbers continuing to rise, Liverpool’s latest figures underline the strong demand for international and European flights from regional UK airports.
